Korzika

Mediterrániában az elsők között olvad a hó, így már kora tavasszal lehetőség nyílik az evezésre. Persze az időjárás kiszámíthatatlan, eleve kevés csapadék volt a télen, annyira nem volt rossz időnk, hogy eső essen, annyira viszont nem volt jó, hogy a hó olvadjon. Mindezek ellenére minimális vízállásnál ugyan, de volt mit evezzünk Korzikán.

In the mediterranean countries melts the snow first so you can paddle already in early springtime. Of course the weather is unpredictable, there was few fall during the winter, we didn't have rain but the temperature was not enough high to make the snow melt; even so at minimum water level but we had what to paddle in Corsica.

A francia sziget turistaként elég drága, ehhez jön még (Budapesttől) 1000 km utiköltség plusz a komp, és ugyanez vissza. Tehát ha egyszer útnak indulunk, érdemes már hosszabb időre menni. Low-budgetre is van lehetőség – sátor és gázfőző –, a kempingek már elfogadható árban vannak. Bátrak vadkempingezéssel is próbálkozhatnak, de egy alapszabályt be kell tartani: Ha egy kerítés van az utadban, azt Korzikán soha ne lépd át. A belső részek őslakosai ugyanis határozottan nem kedvelik az idegeneket.

Beeing as a tourist on the french island is quite expensive, pertol plus the ferry and the same back.. so once you start it is worth to stay longer. For low-budget - tent and campinggas - you also have possibility, the camps are already for available price. If you are brave enough you can also try to camp in the wild but you have to keep one golden rule: If there is a fence on your way, never step over in Corsica. The population of the inside island deffinietly doesn't like the tourists.

Az utazához és az utazas tervezéshez a többször is jól bevált Lonely Planetnek most kevés hasznát vettem. Túl részletesen írnak a méregdrága gasztronómiáról, míg a látnivalókról – amibol igazán bővelkedik a sziget – alig esik szó. Az evezséshez viszont több hasznos segítséget is lehet találni. Ilyen a német kiadású (a čezsočai Prijon boltban kapható) Korsika autó-, és vadvízi térkep, amiben részletesen és egyértelműen vannak feltűntetve a különböző szakaszok, nehézségek, veszélyek, ki- és beszállók, illetve akár a földutak is, ha azok vezetnek a folyókhoz. Másik hasznos segítség a Kayak Session Corsica videoguide, amiben ugyan annyira már nem részletesen, viszont annál látványosabban lehet betekintést nyerni a völgyek mélyére. A kettő nehézségértékelése között van egy ww szint eltérés, az én benyomásaim szerint az igazság valahol a kettő között van.

For the trip and for planning the trip this time my favourit Lonely Planet didn't seem that useful. They go too much into details about the expensive gastronomy while about the sights - which are quite a lot on the island - there is hardly a word. But for the paddling you can find quite some guides. One of these are the german-edited Corsica car- and whitewater map where you can see obviously the different sections, difficulties, dangers, starting and finish points and also the dirt roads if theye are going to the rivers. One other is the Kayak Session Corsica videoguide where you cannot see so detailed but more spectacular what is going on in the deep valleys. Between the rating of the difficulty of the rivers there is one ww level. I think the truth is somewhere in between - depending of course on the waterlevel.

A folyók felső része általában könnyűnek nem mondható kisvízű meredek creekek, kajakot, kajakost es lapátot nem kímélnek, testben és fejben egyaránt helyt kell állni. A völgyek alján akad néhány nagyobb, közepes nehézségű folyó is, ahol akár raftingolni is lehet. A zúgók közötti sík részeken van idő pihenni, a tájban gyönyörködni.

The upper part of the rivers are usually difficult low volume steep creeks which are demanding for the kayaks, kayakers and for the paddles as well, you have to bee 100% there mentally and phisically in the same time. In the lower valleys you can find also some bigger middle-difficulty rivers where you can also do rafting. On the flat water in between the rapids you have time to relax and to enjoy the beautiful view.

Travo

A három egymást követő csúszda-medence kombinációjáról híres folyón valamilyen horgászati megállapodás következtében csak hétfőn és pénteken lehet evezni.

The Travo is famous because of its three slide-pool combination. Because of some fishing agreement it is allowed to paddle just on Mondays and Fridays. (Don't try to quarrel against the Corsican law, especially not against the inhabitants.)

Tavignano
A könnyebb folyók csodaszép környezettel kárpótolnak. A Tavignanon nem kell különösebb tapasztalat, rafttal, felfüjhatö kenuval is lehet rajta evezni. Sziklafalak, meredek zöld hegyoldalak, havas hegycsúcsok panorámája szórakoztat minket a zúgók között csordogálva.

On the easier rivers we got wonderful surroundings. You don't need too much experience to go down on the Tavignano, it's possible to paddle with raft and inflatable canoe es well. During the way we can enjoy the view of the rock walls, steep, green slopes and snowy peaks.

Fium Orbo

Taravo

Korzikával az a baj, hogy vagy vagy túl nehezek, vagy túl könnyűek az ottani vizek. A Taravo szinte az egyetlen folyó, ami viszonylag könnyű és viszonylag barátságos 'tanulószakasz' annak, aki IV-es vízen kíván kajakozni. Gyönyörű kanyon és hatalmas gránittömbök alkotják a folyómedret. A lapos sziklákon kényelmesen és biztonságosan lehet sétálni, hogy előre megnézzük a zajosabb helyeket, ha nem kívánjuk kajakkal a vállunkon ki is lehet kerülni. A zúgók között mindig van síkvíz és pihenőszakasz, ha még a nap is süt igazi élvezet itt kajakozni.

The main problem with Corsica is that the rivers are either too difficult or too easy. The Taravo is one which is relative easy and friendly for those who would like to paddle on class IV. Beautiful canyon and huge granite boulders form the riverbed. On the flat rocks you can walk comfortably and safety to check the louder places and to portage with the kayak on the shoulder if you don't want to run them. Between the rapids there is always some flat water to relax and if you have also sunshine it is a real amusement to paddle here.

Rizanesse

Bizony az "érintetlen" sziget sem annyira érintetlen már. A növekvő energiaigény közvetlenül és közvetve is átformálja a világunkat. Korzika leghíresebb és legrégebben evezett folyóját, a Rizzanesét hamarosan egy duzzasztóval vágják majd ketté. Kivezetik a vizet az erőműbe, és kilométerekkel később pumpálják majd vissza a mederbe. Megújuló és környezetbarát energia? Persze, mert azt, hogy mi vész el a természetből, csak pár horgász és néhány elvadult kajakos látja.

Unfortunately even the 'untouched' island is not that untouched any more. The increasing demand of energy changes our world direcly and undirectly as well. Soon theye are going to finish the dam on most famous river of Corsica, on the Rizzanese. Theye are going to take out the water into the power plant and they will give it back after kilometers to the river. Sustainable and environment-friendly energy? Yes, because just a few fishermen and kayakers see what is taken from the nature.

Codi

Restonica

Amit eddig láttam Korzikából számomra a legszebb völgy. A keskeny aszfaltut közel a patakhoz kanyarog felfelé, így azt szinte végig lehet követni. Fenyvesek és napsütés. Az út végén pedig pár órás sétával két gleccsertóhoz túrázhatunk fel.

For me the Restonica valley is the nicest on Corsica. The narrow asfalt road is going up close to the river, you can have a good impression about the river while you are driving up. Pine trees and sunshine, and from the end of the road with a few-hours-walk you can hike to a glacier lake.

Veccio

Óriási szerencsénkre az utolsó nap kaptunk még egy kis esőt, így megemelkedett annyira a víz, hogy a Vecciót is meg tudjuk evezni. Szép és viszonylag barátságos sziklakertek, pár méteres esések alkotják a legnagyobb részét, középen egy hosszabb pihenő szakasszal.

We were lucky enough that on the last days we got some more rain, so the water rose up enough that we could paddle the Veccio as well. Nice and relatively friendly boulder gardens and few-meter-drops create the river, while in the middle there is a two-kilomerers leisure paddling.

Bonifaccio

Alig parkoltunk le Bonifacioban, már három prospektus landolt a kezünkben a hajókirándulásokról. Korzika déli csücskét homokkő alkotja, és a tenger koptatja évezredek óta. Miután megtudtuk, hogy mit érdemes látni, mi is vízre szálltunk kajakjainkkal, hogy a csodájára járjunk mindennek. A rövid és lapos aljú hajókat nem a tengerre tervezték, lassú és nehezen tartja az irányt, és akkor az öbölben még nem is volt szél és hullámzás. Azért mi kieveztünk elég messzire, hogy teljes panorámában lássuk a puha kőzetre épült várost és azt az elképesztő fáradhatatlan munkát, amit a természet végzett alatta.

We've hardly parked our car in Bonifaccio and we've already found three flyers in our hands about the boat trips and about the natural attractions around. The southern part of Corsica is created by sandstone and shaped by the sea since more thousand years. After we've got to know what is worth to see we put our kayaks on the water to check all. The short flat-bottomed kayaks are not designed for the see, theye are slow and it is difficult the kepp the direction - and this time we were still in the bay protected from the wind and from the waves. Even though we could paddle far enough to get a full panorama about the town and about the enermous, tireless work which the nature made under.
